A Training in research through the practice of research

The aim of the "Consulting and Research" Master's degree is to develop students' ability to carry out research work or study and consulting services by understanding scientific knowledge and methods.

The "Consulting and Research Professions" Master's degree is closely connected to the Master's degrees with specialisations (Human Resources Management, Finance, Marketing and Sales, etc.). It enables students of each of these Master's degrees to prepare for careers as researchers, consultants or high-level executives in the research departments of administrations, large companies, financial institutions, etc… and to acquire a second Master's degree (depending on the teaching units chosen), which completes the advanced Master's degree.

 

PUBLIC

The Master in Management "Consulting and Research" is aimed, depending on the specialisation chosen, at candidates...

  • With a Master 1 in Management Sciences, Economics, Law (and in particular Business Law), Sociology, History, Computer Science Applied to Management (MIAGE), Cognitive Science, Political Science or any other Master's degree in Arts or Sciences
  • From the last year of a Business School diploma in accordance with academic requirements
  • From the last year of an Engineering School diploma in accordance with the academic requirements
  •  For foreign candidates, a university diploma recognised as equivalent by international conventions to a Master 1 level delivered by a French university and after verification of the experience in the chosen specialisation.

They are also accessible to

  • Continuing education students who have completed the Master 1
  • Continuing education students who have been validated by the board of examiners for the Validation of Professional Experience (1985)
  • Continuing education students covered by the law on Validation of Acquired Experience (2002). They will be admitted to the recruitment process after acceptance of the application file examined by the Commission for the Validation of Acquired Experience (Law 2002).

 

OPPORTUNITIES

The skills developed in the Master in Management "Consulting and Research Professions", both theoretical and applied, can lead students to an academic career in university research, but also give them access to positions as company consultants, experts, and high-level executives in business, banking and administration.

  • Positions in the professions of the chosen speciality (marketing, finance, accounting, etc.)
  • Teacher-researchers and research positions within universities and “Grandes Ecoles” (engineering and business schools) in France and abroad;
  • Major public and private research centres recruiting on the basis of applications or competitive examinations (CNRS, INSEE, CEA, etc.);
  • Consulting and expertise firms (studies, management consulting, recruitment consulting, etc.);
  • Research departments in famous companies;
  • Positions of responsibility in administrations or local authorities.

 

ORGANISATION AND OBJECTIVES

Students admitted to the Master in Management "Consulting and Research" will be confronted with concrete, theoretical and applied research, through the analysis of work and the writing of research reports in seminars, and the writing of a thesis in the chosen speciality. In some cases, they may take part in work carried out in the laboratory (CEREFIGE), a lab for management sciences with substantial resources at their disposal: documentary databases, databases, software, etc.

They are part of the professional activities of study and research in management:

-    Ability to analyse, evaluate and report on management situations
-    Understanding of management concepts and tools
-    Knowledge of the scientific approach and research methodologies

The research training modules and seminars are complemented by advanced courses from the Masters in Finance, HRM, Marketing and Sales, etc. The programme allows students to acquire a double Master's degree by offering Teaching Units (UE) from disciplinary Masters (HRM, finance, marketing and sales, public management, CCA, entrepreneurship, etc.).

 

ADMISSION & APPLICATION

The access to the Master in Management "Consulting and Research Professions" is subject to a selection procedure aimed at verifying the knowledge required to pursue training in research and consulting in Management Sciences in the chosen speciality, motivation for research or consulting, and a sufficient level of French.

The application file will consist of an administrative file accompanied by a letter of motivation and a research project of two pages maximum.

The Head of the Master’s programme makes the final decision after examination of the applications and a potential interview.

CONTINUING EDUCATION: application + interview for working professionals or those covered by the Validation of Professional and Personal Experience (VAPP - law 1985) or the Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE).
